FRAME CONSERVATION & RESTORATION
Recent project in the studio: conservation of an American frame from the first part of the 19th century. Frame dismantled and re-sized to house a remarkable piece of important Americana; an exquisitely detailed needlepoint entitled Moses in the Bulrushes.
Restoration vs. Conservation
The opportunity to use different and distinct treatment methodologies for two watercolors in the studio. One frame most likely original to the work and worth conserving, the other simply worth restoring and keeping for now and getting back on the wall until a better period frame comes along.
